VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION DAY IS April 20th.
Through the years our team has donated many hours volunteering with the Virginia Dental Association Foundation Mission of Mercy project. The Mission of Mercy (MOM) projects are conducted in identified, underserved areas of the state where there are not enough dental practitioners to adequately address the oral health needs of the community. Our team goes to as many as five MOM projects a year. We also do Mini MOM patients through our office as part of the VDAF Donated Dental Service. Dr. Alouf, Tracey, Tammy, and Donna are our primary volunteers but other team members volunteer also. When we do a Mission of Mercy project we have to travel several hours away from home. One day is spent for set up, and then we see patients for 1-2 days, and then we spend a day for clean up and take down. Our team fabricates multiple sets of dentures for as many as 100 patients during an average weekend MOM. This month the volunteer team goes to the Virginia Beach MOM for three days. This July our largest volunteer group will go to Wise, VA for 4 days. Visit the “giving back” page on our website for pictures of past MOM trips.
